Bare Bones Issues EMBED Tag AppleScript For BBEdit

Bare Bones Issues EMBED Tag AppleScript For BBEdit

by , 12:00 AM EDT, June 1st, 2006

Bare Bones Software has released a free AppleScript for BBEdit users migrating away from the EMBED tag for deploying QuickTime content, which is no longer supported without viewer interaction in new and future versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The lack of support is the result of a recent settlement between Microsoft and Eolas Technology.

The company explained in a press release it issued: "The BBEdit Embed Tag Script addresses the new browser requirements for a commonly encountered CSS situation where object tags contain EMBED tags for QuickTime media that must be replaced, in this case with JavaScript function calls, to dynamically load and display media content. The BBEdit-powered AppleScript automates the implementation of the JavaScript file recommended by Apple."
