Opera 9 Incorporates Widgets, More

by , 2:05 PM EDT, June 20th, 2006

Opera Software on Tuesday released Opera 9, the latest version of its Web browser for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The new edition features Widgets similar to those found in Mac OS X v10.4, support for BitTorrent, site preferences editing, and more. It's a free download.

As with Mac OS X v10.4's Widgets, Opera's version allows developers to create small programs, from games to news feeds, that can be run from the desktop. They can use JavaScript, CSS, HTML, SVG and such technologies as AJAX to create applications.
