Intel Introduces 2.33GHz Chips

by , 8:05 AM EDT, June 29th, 2006

Intel is shipping a 2.33GHz version of its Core Duo chip that is geared towards high-end notebook computers. According to Daily Tech, the faster processor - dubbed Core Duo T2700 - is already showing up on store shelves.

Right now, Apple's top of the line MacBook Pro Core Duo processor runs at 2.16GHz. With the release of the T2700, we may see speed increases in new models.

Intel also started shipping an ultra-low voltage CPU called the Core Duo U2500. This chip operates at 1.2GHz, and can run on less than 1 Watt.

...you mean to say that Intel is going to ship processors that are ten percent faster than the ones that we have now, less than eighteen months after they released the slower ones?

Whoa.

Sorry, this might take some getting used to after all those Motorola/Freescale/IBM years.
