Apple Acknowledges MacBook Pro Whine

by , 11:20 AM EDT, July 26th, 2006

Apple has posted a terse Knowledge Base article acknowledging the whining noise some MacBook Pro users are experiencing. The article says, in full, "If your 15-inch MacBook Pro emits a high-pitched buzzing sound, please contact AppleCare for service."

MacBook Pro units that suffer from the problem emit a high-pitched whining noise from the keyboard area.

Apple offers several options for contacting AppleCare for support. You can check the Support Web page for the option that best suits you.

Oh. I misunderstood the title of the article. I thought it was about the noise you hear when recent MacBook Pro purchasers first find out about the Core 2 Duo.

You must have misunderstood everything then.

There wasn't any whining from the purchasers, there was uproar.

Ah! There's some right now! I'll go get the cheese.

But seriously, I'll try to keep that in mind while I buy a nice dual core 64-bit MacBook Pro in a few weeks! I'm so upset that I paid attention to Intel's product road map and waited. Darn it! I'm in an uproar!

Why the uproar? i bought a Macbook Pro when it first came out, i have been using it for months. When a new one comes out, i will go and buy that, what weirdo wants to sit and wait, you must be joking. I want it and i want it now.

Subject: Heh,

It's that kind of ignorant attitude that makes discussions.apple.com so compelling, right after a product release.

Cycle as follows;

Person has problem.
Number of persons have similar problem.
Other person calls them whiners (presumably for daring to bring it up).

Much Entertainment follows, especially on a board that has a ratings system that serves no better purpose than adding even more spice to the mix.
