Ballmer: 'There Really is a Sony That Lives Inside of Us'

by , 2:30 PM EDT, July 28th, 2006

Speaking at Microsoft's annual financial analyst meeting, company CEO Steve Ballmer on Thursday said: "There really is a Sony that lives inside of us. There's an aspiring Google or Yahoo that lives inside of us." He also described the company's push into multiple markets a "multi-core" approach that is vital to its continued success.

According to an IDG News article, Mr. Ballmer pointed to the Xbox as an example of the multi-core strategy. "It's always best in our business to be first," he explained. "We want to be first. But are you prepared to get in and innovate and try to get growth in areas where you're not first in the market? As investors, you have to understand that we think that's important."

Addressing recent delays in the release of Windows Vista, which is part of Microsoft's lifeblood, the CEO commented: "We will never [again] have a five-year gap between the releases of major products."

Subject: Why do they waste their breath?

Will Microsoft ever learn that that it is the creativity behind their competitors' successes, not just a canned business model, that makes it work? They have been aping (not a reference to Ballmer) everybody else only to meet with utter failure and depleted reserves for so long now; their company just doesn't have the heart that they are trying to manufacture. I really wish they'd just donate all of that money to a worthy cause, pay off the deficit for the US, something, ANYTHING other than wasting everyone's time, and just go away. I can dream.

The best thing Apple has going for it is this guy Ballmer steering that sinking ship. He typifies the kind of lip service MBA type who wouldn't know what innovation and creativity was if it bit him on the ass.

Keep it up Stevie boy. At this rate MS will go under twice as fast.

... there are far more viruses, worms and trojan horses that live inside of them than there are of "Sonys, Googles and Yahoos".
