Epson Intros Three Photo Printers
by , 4:10 PM EDT, August 28th, 2006
Epson on Monday introduced three new photo printers: the Ultra Hi-Definition Stylus Photo R260 and R380 and the Stylus Photo RX580. All three feature Claria Hi-Definition ink, DX5 technology for delivering ink droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters, print speeds as fast as 30 seconds for a 4 x 6-inch photo and as fast as 30 pages per minute for text documents, automatic color correction, printing directly to CDs and DVDs, and border-free printing.
The R260, which is the base model, will ship next month for US$129.99. The R380, which will be available in October for $199.99, adds a 3.5-inch color LCD, built-in memory card slots, direct printing from Bluetooth devices with an optional adapter, and the ability to save photos to, and print from, an external CD, Zip or Flash memory drive.
The RX580, which will also ship in October for $199.99, offers a 2.5-inch LCD, memory card slots, optional Bluetooth compatibility, 1200 x 2400 dpi scanning, photo color restoration, document copying at speeds up to 30 copies per minute, and the ability to create photo greeting cards.
Epson said in its press release that it has a site set up for the new printers, but as TMO posted this article, it gave an error and redirected to the company's main product page.
