Video Download Service Hints at New Apple Products
by , 9:40 AM EDT, September 8th, 2006 - Digg This
4Flix.Net hopes to score part of the digital movie download market by offering digital rights management-free feature-length films, but in the process it may have inadvertently revealed part of Apple's unannounced product line up. The service touts that its videos are formatted as H.264, and are compatible with a wide range of devices including Sony's PSP, Intel's VIIV entertainment platform, and also Apple's "6th Generation 16x9 widescreen Video iPod," and "Airport Express Video with HDMI out."
A wide screen video capable iPod and AirPort Express with video capabilities are not products that Apple has announced, although they are devices that many speculate will be announced on September 12 at Apple's "Showtime" media event.
The likelihood that Apple would reveal its new product lineup ahead of an official announcement seems remote, especially considering the tight-lipped nature of the company.
Representatives from 4Flix.Net were unavailable for comment, and Apple's policy prevents spokespeople from commenting on unannounced products, which means we'll have to wait until Tuesday to see if both devices are revealed.

Lets hope they don't offer HDMI only model. I want component video. HDTV is nice and all but not yet worth the price. I'm happy with the 480p my 3 year old digital TV plays.
If I know Apple the device would only have 1 digital output (gotta keep it small!) and they'll sell an adapter (Just $49!) than takes the digital output and converts it to analog.
You're right, they would HAVE to work with more than HD sets if they want to make money off of them, but that doesn't mean they won't make it work in this way.
All speculation on my part, but that's the way I see it.
QuoteWow! You're so smart! And what a clever way to voice your opinion! You know, if TMO did put that in their article it would become an editorial piece. I believe their intention was to offer us a news story, which is nice since that's what I prefer.Guest wrote:
You should probably mention in your article that this is *most likely* a self-serving publicity stunt by this "company". Why in the world would they have access to Apple's secrets? Let's be responsible here.
