Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak's book iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon: How I Invented the Personal Computer, Co-Founded Apple and Had Fun Doing It reached bookstores on Tuesday. It focuses mostly on the early days of his relationship with current company CEO Steve Jobs. He told the San Francisco Chronicle's Ellen Lee: "I wanted to get that out for a long time. People wanted to hear it, and this is coming right out of my mouth."
Excerpts from the book published on the Chronicle's Web site reveal, among other things, that Bob Dylan's music "struck a moral chord" with Mr. Wozniak and Mr. Jobs when they first met, leading to them being "linked forever" because of it. He also described the Homebrew Computer Club meeting that inspired him to create the Apple I, and the sacrifices he and Mr. Jobs made to start their company.
Mr. Wozniak wrote: "We were in (Steve Jobs') car and he said -- and I can remember him saying this like it was yesterday, 'Well, even if we lose our money, we'll have a company. For once in our lives, we'll have a company.'"

How to instantly make people not want to read your book:
Step 1) Put i before your nickname, and put it in the title.
Step 2) Make yourself sound important, and put it in your title.
Step 3) Mention your "Cult Icon" status in your own book title.
Step 4) Put rainbow colors on your cover. (They don't mean the same as in 1978. )
Sorry Woz, you lost me at "iWoz:"
The "full of himself" title is really disappointing. But even more strange is this picture: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/chronicle/archive/2006/09/25/BUG3JLAVIG1.DTL&o=0&type=business
Was he on his way to the airport and someone asked to take a snapshot of him? Is that the iPod watch that hasn't been released yet??

"Instigating Bile And Flaming In Mac Observer Posts: Mention Anything To Do With Steve Wozniak"
Every time Woz appears here (or anywhere else for that matter), there's always many many people who have nothing but distaste and treat him with nothing but opprobrium.
I don't get it. Put a big weight on your knees to stop them jerking.
Oh, and Mr Bone: great post.

Anyone that even knows who Steve Wozniak is owes it to themselves to acquire this book, and to check out the Google video of him speaking at the Computer History Museum. The passion and vision that he continues to have is incredible. I kind of wish that he'd continued to exercise his brilliance in digital design, but that's okay - he's already made his mark.
Can't wait to see him on The Colbert Report this Thursday!
