Firefox 2.0 Officially Available
Firefox 2.0 Officially Available
by , 8:00 AM EDT, October 25th, 2006
After a false start earlier this week when unofficial links to Firefox 2.0 surfaced, Mozilla officially released the Web browser Tuesday afternoon. The new version of Firefox is a Universal Binary application capable of running natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. It includes a revised interface, built-in phishing protection, improved searching capabilities, a Session Restore feature that reopens your browser windows or tabs if the application quits, and more.
Firefox 2.0 is free, and available for download at the Mozilla Web site.

I can't believe how slow Fx has become. I like most everything about 2.0, but it's taking over a minute to load any page, fron the NY Times with lots of graphics to Craigslist with none.
I've gone back to the G4 Optimized build of Fx 1.5 (DeerPark?). Sorry to say I shall probably switch to Opera and learn to live with all that wasted space and thick borders.
