Miglia Announces Dual Digital Tuner for the Mac

Miglia Announces Dual Digital Tuner for the Mac

by , 8:20 AM EDT, October 26th, 2006

Miglia Technology announced its dual digital tuner, the TVDuo, for the Mac on Thursday. The TVDuo is designed for the European and Asian market, and is compatible with the DVB-T standard, also known as Freeview or TNT. It connects to your Mac via USB 2, and includes two digital antenna ports so that you can watch one show while recording another, Elgato's EyeTV2 digital video recorder software, a remote control, two mini-antennas, and a USB cable.

The TVDuo will be available in late November. Pricing has not yet been announced.

This product is for Europe and Asia so it really doesn't mean anything to us here in the U.S.

I was just wondering if there were any plans for a DVB-H or Mediaflow version that would cater to the anticip[ated mobile TV market in North America

My first thought was why two aerial sockets for the dual tuner ?

Every other dual tuner system that I know of uses one socket and splits the feed to both tuners.

Then I looked at their web site and saw that it also allows diversity reception, where both tuners are tuned to the same frequency. If this works as well as similar systems used in professional equipment, it could make the system considerably better when reception is marginal.

As one of the many who visit this site from outside of the US, I'm pleased that the site has the maturity to cater for a global audience and isn't too inward-looking in it's coverage.

Hmmm... I wonder what they mean when other countries call us "self-centered"...
