Apple Rolls Out New .Mac Webmail

by , 7:55 AM EDT, October 27th, 2006

Apple launched an updated version of its .Mac webmail service on Thursday. The new webmail includes a new interface that matches Apple's Mail application with a message pane, preview pane, drag-and-drop support for messages, message flagging, and keyboard shortcuts. It also supports Address Book, just like Mail, and includes a Quick Reply button so you can reply to messages without leaving the Inbox.

The new .Mac webmail look.

Apple's .Mac webmail is included with the US$99 a year .Mac service.

Would you like magic icons that stay put, as you enlarge the text enough to overlap them? I like magic icons.

wrong order, the icons overlap the text

right now, if someone with impared vision wants to enlarge the text enough to see comfortably, only a single cmd+ text enlargement is available before icons start overlapping the text area and other stuff goes awry.

if that's a feature of these so-called magic icons, you can keep them

It appears to have some kinks in it. I've been having the same problem, but it appears to be getting better. I can now open my e-mails. I think they're working on it. It's going to be pretty slick when they get it right. The auto fill for e-mail addresses from your address book is especially handy. I use it while I'm at work on my Windows laptop.
