Justin Longs Says He's Still the Mac Guy
Justin Longs Says He's Still the Mac Guy
by , 1:35 PM EST, November 13th, 2006
In a post on his own Web site, Justin Long says that he's still playing the "Mac Guy" in Apple's commercials, and isn't sure how the rumor that he was done with the ads got started. He also said that he loves working with "PC Guy" John Hodgman.
Mr. Long's post from November 13 states "as for the Mac commercials, I don't know where that report came from that said I wasn't going to do anymore - I'm literally setting my alarm right now to wake up for a Mac shoot tomorrow."
Radar reported last week that Mr. Long would not be appearing in any more commercials for the Macintosh. A representative for Mr. Long was quoted as saying Every ad you see Justin in is for that previous time period only. There's no long-term deal with him. Justin's a movie star, not a commercial guy.
The commercials Mr. Long is shooting now are for the holiday season, and he plans to continue working with Apple for the foreseeable future.

I'm Safari"
"I'm IE."
"I'm sorry"
"Why?"
"Because as big as you are, you're just not safe."
"Why would you say that?"
"It's not me, its the security companies." They tell the world weekly how vulnerable you make PCs."
"Yet, I'm still number one."
"Yes, but you're more like number 2 [wink]."

I never really got the impression that the ads irked alot of PC users. Most PC users aren't exactly madly in love with their fate. Sure you have the die hard anti-mac PC fanboys, but thats an extreme minority.
It seems like alot more Mac users are annoyed by the ads. Mostly the old timer "I've been using Macs since before you were born" types. The stereotypical "I'm better than you" Mac user. The increased exposure and market share is threatening their prescious exclusivity.

1. "Long" just a stage name, was born "Justin Littlepecker".
2. Looked more like Keifer Sutherland as a pre-teen, had extensive work done to look more like Dylan McDermott.
3. Pubic-hair beard made of GENUINE pubes.
4. Operated camera for hours on end for the Britney/K-Fed sex tape.
5. Turned down for job at Apple Store because he didn't have enough tats or piercings.
