This looks like a decent basic app.

I used to use Typestyler all the time to do stuff like this, but no OS X version of Typestyler has ever been released, even though they've been promising it for years. Between current Photoshop features and apps like this, I'll have very little reason to go back to Typestyler if they ever do release an OS X version. Are you listening, Typestyler?

After patiently awaiting an OSX version of Typestyler for about five years, I too have given up as the Stillman family enjoys their retirement. While ArtText is not nearly as robust as TYPESTYLER was, it DOES work on OSX and addresses basic needs of designers to shape text for importing into Illustrator as vectored files. The best part of all is that BeLight seems receptive to ideas for future enhancements. Try it! For $30 you cannot go wrong.
