Sonnet Announces New High Speed Storage Products

SAN FRANCISCO -- Sonnet Technologies announced several data storage-related products at Macworld Expo. The Tempo SATA E2P Serial ATA host adapter is compatible with PCIe-based Mac Pro, Dual Core Power Mac G5, and Xserve Macs, includes two external hot-swappable 300 MB/s Serial ATA ports, supports SATA enclosures with port multipliers for up to 10 drives.

The Tempo SATA E2P is priced at US$79.95, and will be available in early February.

Sonnet also announced a new series of Allegro Express host adapter cards for PCIe-based Macs. The Allegro Express 400 includes either two external or an internal/external FireWire 400 ports, the Allegro Express USB comes with four external and one internal USB 2.0 port, and the Tango Express combo card offers two FireWire 400 and three USB 2.0 ports on a single card.

All three will be available in early February. The Allegro Express FW400 and Allegro Express USB cost $69.95, and the Tango Express is priced at $89.95.

Along with the adapters, Sonnet also unveiled the Fusion R400Q rack mount SATA drive enclosure. The enclosure supports up to four hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA drives, includes FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 and SATA II i ports, and fills a 1U slot in server racks. It will be available in March for $699.

Sonnet is previewing the products during Macworld Expo.
