AirPort Extreme Update Addresses Security Issue

Apple Inc. released AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001 late Thursday to address wireless networking related security issues on Intel-based Macs. The update corrects an out-of-bounds memory read error that cold cause a system crash when a maliciously crafted wireless frame is sent to a specific computer. This exploit requires that the attacker and victim computer to be on the same network.

This issue affects Intel-based Core Duo MacBook Pro, MacBook, and Mac mini computers, but not Core 2 Duo systems.

AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001 is available via Apple's Software Update application, or as a stand-alone installer from the Apple Web site.
