Apple UK Get a Mac Ads Debut

by , 10:10 AM EST, January 29th, 2007

Apple Inc. has launched a series of U.K. specific Get a Mac ads that feature David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The team also play flat mates Mark and Jeremy in the BBC comedy series Peep Show. The six commercials follow the same formula that made the U.S. versions with John Hodgman and Justin Long so popular. You can see the ads in QuickTime format at the Apple U.K. and Ireland Web site.

Um, channel 4 actually. These guys are good for these ads, though I still wonder if many viewers will have no idea what they are advertsising and not even try to find out.

Peep Show on Channel 4, and the BBC's that Mitchell and Webb look.

I think it's an inspired choice, and really nice to see us not just getting the US adverts.

Well, this is rip-off Britain, remember we don't even get the full speed from 802.11n (not really an Apple thing that).

Anyway, I'd not really say this is a sudden targeting of the UK market, Apple have been here for a long time now. I call these ads more a recognition of that.

If Apple are going to try and target the UK market, I'd think that getting film and TV content on iTunes and sorting out the tremendously unfair pricing of content in comparison with the USA would help more than this. Good stuff though.
