by , 9:35 AM EST, February 6th, 2007

Corel Painter X from Corel Corporation was announced on Monday as a Universal Binary application. In addition to native support for PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, it also adds RealBristle - a feature that better simulates traditional painting and illustration tools, adds new Composition Tools designed to reduce image composition time, introduces a new workspace manager, improves Adobe Photoshop compatibility, and more.

Corel Painter X is available for pre-order now for US$429, and will ship before the end of February. Upgrades from earlier versions are priced at $229.
