That's hardly "all Macintosh computers." It leaves out the iBook G3, iMac G3, and a host of others. I didn't see a reference to "all Macs" on the OWC page; perhaps it was in a press release.

They do offer an external Superdrive for any system they don't have an internal option for.

That's not an upgrade--it's a bit of a pain to haul around an external drive with a laptop, for example. There are many external CD-RW/DVD-R drives. (OWC's are at a good price.) Unfortunately, they still will not work on early iMacs and iBooks, nor the early PowerBook G3s (Wallstreet & Lombard), as those do not have FireWire nor USB 2. They can run OS 10.2.8 (PowerBooks) or 10.3.9 (iBook, iMac).

Very true. But remember any Superdrive available for less than 733 Mhz G4 might as well be ignored for anything other than data storage. The 733 Mhz G4 was the first Apple created iDVD for, and that one only managed to compress 2 hours of DVD video in 4 hours. Do you havea any more patience than that to create a DVD? If you do, then getting a Superdrive for an older Mac makes sense. But if you don't it only makes sense as a data storage medium.
