What's different about this than the TV Max and, if it is software only, will TV Max owners be able to upgrade?
Until recently Miglia hardware used Elgato's EyeTV software, see http://www.macobserver.com/article/2007/03/13.5.shtml

Works with any USB 2.0 Mac, not just a mini. Tunes both analog and digital. Comes with the outstanding EyeTV software that turns you Mac into a DVR. And costs less than $150 at Amazon. Analog broadcasting in the US dies in 2009.
I have used my EyeTV Hybrid to digitize some home movies. Just connect it to a VCR player.

I recently purchased the TVMAX+ having spent weeks trying to research it.
I went in to the apple store and they showed me the TVTV schedular which looked great. You could pick any channel and hey presto. But they had neither MAXTV or Eyetv on display
In reality its all a bit different - TVMAX+ does have a tuner - but it only picks up the UK 4 channels. If you try and select say ITV2 on the schedular it won't know what your on about.
I decided to purchase a freeview box and yes it connect and the pictures ok.
But you have to use the composite video and only by changing the channel on the Freeview remote can you change your selection!
When you try the TVTV once again it doesn't work the only input you have is the one currently being streamed through the composite - so recording different channels using freeview is not possible unless you manually select them each time.
Then there's the small problem that, if the system is running a scheduled recording you cannot watch the TV not even the recorded channel.
Output is ok depending on you signal.
But I think while it may be great in the US to link the system up and pre-record a batch of programs - it just isn't going to happen in the UK unless you use the standard 4.
Overall 3/ 5 - comes way short of expectation - but the worst thing is that I haven't found anything else thats any better. Even eyetv has its problems
