Data Backup 3 Improves Backup Speeds, More

by , 7:50 AM EDT, March 28th, 2007

Prosoft Engineering announced the immediate availability of the backup and synchronization application Data Backup 3 on Tuesday. The new version adds a Fast Start feature that improves backup speeds, includes built-in backup sets for common files like iTunes and iPhoto libraries, automatically wakes your Mac from sleep to perform backups, sports a new interface, and more.

Data Backup 3 is priced at US$59. Upgrades cost $35, or are free if you purchased Data Backup 2 after January 1, 2007.

I downloaded the demo. Did one simple copy backup, then moved onto a versioned backup to the same location. This caused the beachball to spin endlessly, with System Monitor reporting the application wasn't responding. So I force quit. Now it hang on starting with "Trying to connect to Executor". While it looks as if it has potential, my experience seems to indicate that it has some teething issues.
