Sugar Maple Software announced the immediate availability of NewsHawker 1.0 on Thursday. NewsHawker is a Universal Binary add-on for NetNewsWire that reads news items out-loud. It is configurable to allow just headlines, just new bodies, or a combination of the two, and can be controlled via keyboard, AppleScript, or the Apple Remote. It is not compatible with NetNewsWire Lite.

NewsHawker is available for download at the Sugar Maple Software Web site, and is priced at US$19.
