Changes in Mac Pro Configurations Over Time

by , 12:30 PM EDT, April 11th, 2007

The various configurations and prices of the Mac Pro series over time were examined at EveryMac.com on Wednesday.

As Apple brings out new versions of a system, the capability grows and the prices tend to stay the same. If one were planning to buy a Mac Pro when it first came out and elected not to purchase, it's always interesting to see what the same dollars can buy today.

EveryMac showed three generations of Apple's Mac Pro line and compared various specs for Apple's Suggested, Better and Best configurations. The article also serves to document the state of the the Mac Pro options over time.

If you don't know that early adopters get screwed by now, you are a noob.

I indeed do know, and choose to get screwed.

isn't that the same with any computer? whether its pc or mac? its always a running joke, that a computer becomes obsolete as soon as it is taken out of the store because something faster comes out right away.

Actually, I think the MacPro has been very stable, cost wise. But like felixgardian in the post before me, I don't care either. Except in very unusual circumstances, waiting is not so smart. After all, you have to assign some value to the time you do without it while waiting. Then when you think you are ready, there is another reason to wait. The better policy is to buy something that is upgradeble, or very near the top, performance wise. In the case of the mac Pro, you have both.
