WiebeTech Unveils Quad Interface Drive Enclosure

WiebeTech revealed its new ToughTech XE mini portable drive enclosure on Thursday. The pocket-size enclosure includes two FireWire 800 ports and a combination eSATA/USB 2.0 port. It is compatible with standard 2.5-inch SATA drives, uses the Oxford 924 chipset, and is capable of data transfer speeds up to 150MB/s.

The ToughTech XE mini will be available in June for US$119.95. Configurations with drive pre-installed will range from $221.95 for an 80GB drive up to $273.95 for a 160GB model.

So it could chug along with my MPB being the bottle neck and not the drive:

As posted earlier on TMO, but no eSATA drive enclosures at 3Gbps can be found that are portable.
