OWC Releases 4GB Memory Upgrade Kits for Latest MacBook Pros

by , 2:25 PM EDT, June 15th, 2007

Other World Computing (OWC) announced Friday 4GB memory kits for the latest generation of 2.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz MacBook Pros. According to OWC, the memory modules meet or exceed Apple's specifications, and they are priced at US$219.99 (configured as two 2GB modules). OWC is also offering a $50 trade-in for two 1GB modules. More details can be found at OWC's Web site.

$750 is what Apple wants for 4GB. Seems really steep, especially compared to 219 less 50 rebate for memory that has the same specs--or so OWC says.

Correction: $750 is what Apple wants for 2 GB. Remember, it comes with 2 already. That price is just to UPGRADE it to 4 GB.

Hmm, makes this deal look even better, don't it!

Crucial.com is currently running at $300 for 4 GB, so yes, this is a good deal. I've only ever bought from crucial myself, but I hear good things about OWC, so I'm sure it's fine.

OWC is completely trustworthy. I puchase from them quite a bit. Great customer service and I've never had any compatibility issues. Crucial is excellent too, but what a deal!

Subject: OWC Memory

I had an issue (at least Apple said I did) with my OWC memory in my Titanium G4. The memory was 3 years old. OWC replaced it no questions asked. I have purchased a few drives over the years. Their customer service is excellent. CaptJon
