Own a Piece of Apple History

Own a Piece of Apple History

by , 4:40 PM EDT, July 20th, 2007

Mac Resource in Huntsville, Alabama is moving. So they're selling the 5.5 foot (1.7 m.), neon-lit, colored Apple that has been hanging outside the old store. It's for sale on eBay.

At the eBay posting, the dealership said, "We are an Apple authorized dealer and are relocating our store and no longer need this sign. The actual size of the sign measures 5 foot 10 inches tall. It is in excellent condition and works perfectly. The sign is manufactured with heavy duty welded aluminum and is lit by seven neon tubes. We are planning to take the sign off the building July 30th."

Lots of pictures have been posted at eBay, and the opening bid is US$2,500. The winner of the bidding is responsible for all shipping or on-site pickup.

For all those who've always wanted to have one of these neon-lit Apple logos hanging in their offices, here's a golden (well, multi-colored) opportunity. In addition, since Apple switched from the rainbow logo to solid colors years ago, this really is a piece of history.

That would fit on the wall by my patio. It might even give a nice mood lighting to the area. However, for the price of the sign I could get a brace of iPhones, an upgrade to CS3, and a new MacBook.

Wouldn't a power switch icon be more appropriate

That sign would be a perfect companion to my life sized Yao Ming and Vern display from the release of the 12 and 17" PowerBooks. The local CompUSA was going to throw it out, so I asked if I could have it and low and behold, they gave it to me!!

It's the hormones. I was not quite the man then that I am today.

And they will ship it anywhere as long you pay the shipping.

Go for it!

They won't ship at all. The article said:
