Apple Releases Software, Firmware Updates

Apple released software and firmware updates late on Wednesday: the Apple Mac Pro SMC Firmware update 1.1 for Mac Pro, the iMac Software Update 1.0, and Boot Camp Beta 1.4.

1. The Apple Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.1 adjusts fan behavior on the Mac Pro.

2. The iMac Software Update 1.0 provides bug fixes for 20- and 24-inch iMacs with 2.0, 2.4, and 2.8 GHz processors.

3. The Boot Camp Public Beta 1.4 adds support for MacBook Pro keyboard backlighting, updated graphics drivers, an improved Boot Camp driver installer and more.

The iMac Software Update 1.0 is apparently for the brand-new iMacs, as those are the only ones with 2.0, 2.4, and 2.8 gHz processors. IOW, Apple releases a bug fix the day after they start selling the iMac. That's not hard to understand: the iMacs were built and had their OS installed some time ago.
