Steve Jobs Inducted into California Hall of Fame

by , 11:35 AM EDT, August 21st, 2007

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has another feather to add to his cap: he has been inducted into California Hall of Fame. Mr. Jobs is one of 13 inductees that will join the California Museum for History's Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on December 5.

The other inductees include Ansel Adams, Milton Berle, Willie Mays, Robert Mondavi, Rita Moreno, Jackie Robinson, Jonas Salk, M.D., John Steinbeck, Elizabeth Taylor, Earl Warren, John Wayne, and Tiger Woods.

California historian Dr. Kevin Starr commented "Creative in so many different ways, these 2007 honorees have one thing in common: California nurtured their talent, and they, in turn, have brought new luster to the Golden State."

All of the living inductees are scheduled to participate in the special event where Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, will present each with a Hall of Fame medal.

This is good news but when I first glanced at the headline I thaught it said Steve Jobs had been indicted in California...

It's an interesting little tidbit of news, but I never would have figured that a golf pro could be a benefit to the greater good of mankind. I'm sure there are a lot more people out there driving Buicks, thanks to Tiger Woods!

How manyof these people are California natives I wonder? I know Willie Mays is not, he is from Alabama. I also wonder what the criteria for inclusion is? I agree with xmattingly on Tiger Woods. He does not even live in California anymore.

Think a bit about Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, and Tiger Woods. It should come to you.

Some are natives, others lived in California during their creative years. That's pretty common for Californians. The release said that "California nurtured their talent."

FWIW, Illinois prides itself as "The Land of Lincoln," but Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky.

So you're saying that Steve Jobs was included because he's black? BTW, young Eldrich is Cablanasian, a word he coined to describe the unique racial mix which is him.

But my main point is that there seems to be no mention of whether Steve Jobs (*) should be inducted with an asterisk for his alleged peripheral involvement with stock options shenanigans. How soon we forget.

So you're saying that I should always have an * after my name for any award I win because I was in the room with someone who knew someone who broke the law? Have we finally gone all the way from innocent till proven guilty through guilty because suspected to guilt by association?

If someone does something wrong, they get indicted and then convicted. Otherwise it's background noise.
