Entrance Adds Charts to MySQL Databases
by , 3:00 PM EDT, August 29th, 2007
dbEntrance Software released the gamma version of Entrance on Tuesday. The software is a browser for MySQL databases that adds a charting capability.
Entrance combines MySQL browser functionality with charting and data analysis capabilities. The result is a power tool for exploring complicated datasets. Entrance charts are interactive: it is possible to pan through them, select data from them and "paint" their data points. The company has just published a "Reviewers Guide" providing examples, according to the new company founded by the authors.

The authors noted that the Macintosh version has a few features not found on the other platforms. For example, charts can be sent to iPhoto and folders can be opened in the Finder. Users can send a SQL script to a colleague by dragging it from the Entrance explorer tree to iChat or Mail. Data can be exchanged with Apple's Numbers and other spreadsheets.
The final release of Entrance is expected on September 15th. dbEntrance is offering an "early bird special" priced at US$39.95. Customers will receive the release version on September 15th and all dot releases that follow.
