Apple released Battery Update 1.3 for the MacBook Pro on Wednesday. The battery firmware update addresses battery performance issues on the company's 15-inch display pro-level laptops.
Battery Update 1.3 supports 15-inch, 15-inch glossy display, 15-inch Core 2 Duo, and 15-inch 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz MacBook Pro models.
Apple warns that the laptop's power cord must be plugged in and connected to a working power source during the update process. Additional batteries will automatically update when connected to your Mac.
The update is free and requires Mac OS X 10.4.10. It is availalbe through Software Update or as a stand alone installer.
Additional information is available at the Apple Support Web site.
Observer Comments
is it just me or is this like the third battery firmware update for the MB Pro? Is this to say that the first two updates failed to improve the performance? I'm glad they are actively working the issue, but three firmware updates for a battery? That's a little absurd isn't it? They are clearly having some problems. Hopefully they get it fixed in the new Pros (whenever that happens).

actually my battery seems to be draining faster.. not slower
I second that! On a full charge my batter meter said 1:50mins. Before It sand 2:50 mins. Not sure this is working any better Apple.
Immediately after the update, my batter shows 386:33mins. I reset the battery and the previous statement was the result.
I'm emailing apple. you should do the same.
Well get this, I performed the update on Wed. Since then my MacBook Pro has powered off when the battery is @ approx 65% and not connected to AC. I tried reproducing the problem in my user with apps & no apps running. I've reset the PMU and no joy. My laptop will only run when running off AC.
I have been one of those lucky ones where I have had no problems with regards to updates... until now.
Any tips people? I haven't seen anyone else post similar problmes.

Take it in to an Apple store and have them replace the battery.
