Gefen Introduces Wireless USB with 100 ft. Range

Gefen announced on Wednesday their Wireless USB 2 Extender with four ports and a range of up to 100 ft. (30 m.). It supports both USB 1.1 and 2.0 and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, Unix, Linux, and Mac OS X.

The data rate is up to 54 Mbps and uses an 802.11-type connection to link the base unit to the remote unit.

400 smackeroos? Not even Apple's airport base station costs that much for 802.11n and USB hard drive support. Wireless keyboards are cheaper, though you'd be replacing batteries. Who do they think they are kidding. If it was $100 I might consider it. But $400?
