BusySync Offers Server-free iCal Sharing

BusySync Offers Server-free iCal Sharing

by , 8:05 AM EDT, October 22nd, 2007

BusyMac announced the immediate availability of BusySync 1.0 on Monday. BusySync lets users share their iCal calendars on a local network without requiring a dedicated server.

The application supports viewing and editing multiple calendars, automatically publishes and syncs calendar changes, supports Bonjour, offers password protection, and automatically syncs offline calendar changes once your Mac is reconnected to the network.

BusySync 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5, and supports both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. It is priced at US$19.95 per user, and is available for download at the BusyMac Web site.

...is it free or is it $19.95? What am I missing?

It is server-free, in that it doesn't require a calendar server to be running. Still costs money.

Ah, now I see -- confusing. Wasn't (isn't) there a site that still does this for free?

Apples/oranges: NotMac requires a server, but it's a good alternative for .mac that doesn't cost anything.

I haven't tested it, but it was the winner of the NotMac challenge, a competition to create an open-source alternative to .mac, you can find it here:
