Wired: The 15 Dumbest Apple Predictions Ever

by , 11:45 AM EDT, November 2nd, 2007

Throw together a bunch of technology analysts that are sure they can read Apple's future, toss in a healthy dose of Rob Enderle, and what do you get? Wired Magazine's 15 Dumbest Apple Predictions of All Time.

Some of the predictions include the failure of the iMac and the iPhone, HP will sell more iPods than Apple (a TMO favorite), Apple is in decline, Sony will buy Apple, and more.

In 2004, Mr. Enderle predicted "The expectation on the iPod is that HP's version will probably outsell Apple's version relatively quickly."

Back in 1996, former Apple vice president Gaston Bastiaens said "Within the next two months, Sony will acquire Apple. ... Sony will be the white knight who will step into the picture."

Of course, Michael Dell's infamous October 1997 quote made the list, too. "I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."

The complete list of the 15 Dumbest Apple Predictions of All Time is available at the Wired Web site.

I love the last line:
"Any others to add? Now, don't go posting the complete works of Rob Enderle, folks. Bandwidth isn't free."

They should have linked to MacObserver's Apple Death Knell counter.
