Tablet Mac Rumors Surface Again
by , 10:10 AM EST, November 6th, 2007
Rumors of a tablet-based Mac have been around for years, but those wishful dreams nay have taken an interesting turn now that Apple contract manufacturer Asus is in on the game. Apparently, Asus representatives have said that the company is working with Apple on designs for what it called a "tablet PC," according to CNET.
If Apple really is working on a tablet form factor computer, it will likely include Intel Core technology, a multi-touch interface, and a customized version of Mac OS X 10.5. There isn't any word on when to expect such a device -- or any evidence that this time the tablet Mac really is coming -- but the source of this rumor could give long time hopefuls a bit more to cling to.

For Asus to publicly acknowledge it means it's dead. Apple's gonna rip them a new one. Everybody knows they like to keep things a big secret until they're ready to release it (or at least within six months) and they don't like partners or employees talking out of school. I guess we'll have to just keep waiting for this thing, though I'm not sure why any body would want it. Greasy fingers do messy laptop screens make.
