Take Control Releases Leopard Backup Guide

Take Control Releases Leopard Backup Guide

by , 1:25 PM EST, November 30th, 2007

TidBITS and Take Control announced the immediate availability of Take Control of Easy Backups in Leopard on Friday. The new Take Control ebook by Joe Kissell explains how to set up and manage a backup system in Mac OS X 10.5 as well as how to restore files.

The 80 page ebook explains data archiving, how to create a bootable backup, offsite backups, how to effectively use Time Machine, alternatives to Time Machine, and more.

Take Control of Easy Backups in Leopard is available as a Web-based preview for US$10. Readers can ask questions and post comments in the preview text, and will receive the completed version of the book in PDF format for free when it is available.

I know it doesn't make bootable backups, but Time Machine is the killer app for most people who would otherwise need a book like this. And.. um.. doesn't it seem like they are offering a beta that you have to pay for? I hope it is discounted from the full/final price.

Here's my guide to backing up your mac in Leopard.. for free:
Step one: plug in an HFS formatted hard drive.
Step two: Click "Use as Backup Disk".
Step three: [I'm sure you know where I'm going with this, so I'll just leave it blank.]
