FileMaker Pro 8.5v2 Adds Leopard Support

FileMaker Pro 8.5v2 Adds Leopard Support

by , 12:55 PM EST, December 19th, 2007

FileMaker quietly rolled out a new update for FileMaker Pro 8.5 on Tuesday that adds Mac OS X 10.5 compatibility to the popular database application. The FileMaker Pro 8.5v2 update is available for FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Advanced 8.5.

The update corrected a problem where FileMaker Pro would crash when creating or opening a document if the system language and region didn't match, and also fixed an issue that could cause a crash when exporting data for Microsoft Excel.

The update is free for FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Avdanced 8.5 users, and is available for download at the FileMaker Web site.

Subject: Initially they claimed it wouldn't work

Initially they claimed it wouldn't work, and that no update that is Leopard compatible would come out.
I found that it did work even without the update, but I didn't use any web features except export to HTML, and that worked just fine without this update. What's really odd about it, is the version is what I have currently. That's bound to cause confusion to figure out which version is the Leopard compatible version, and which one is not.

Subject: FileMaker already has my $300 for the ugrade

Can I get a refund on my v 9... that I thought I was forced to buy if I used Leopard? I don't think so. 8.5 was fine and not very old. V 9 was out for a short time. But I paid $300 for what I didn't want to buy in the first place.

What a lousy deal!
