New Macintosh Help Website Debuts

New Macintosh Help Website Debuts

by , 4:30 PM EST, February 6th, 2008

Scott Haneda and Caroline Merchiers have launched the first basic Macintosh help Website, osxhelp.com, on Wednesday. It claims to bring a new perspective to the Mac help Websites currently available.

The new site is designed for the beginning Mac user, whether they just purchased their first computer or just their first Macintosh, and covers everything that has to do with setting up and using their new Mac, no matter how small.

"As more and more people are buying their first Macintoshes, more and more people are in need of a good foundation for how to use their new computer" said Caroline Merchiers.

The goal was to build a site that wasn't overwhelming and confusing for the first time Mac user, and where there would never be any "stupid questions."

"My goal is to explain in excruciatingly simple detail, the most basic of functions to learning how to use your computer," explained Scott Haneda. "If you are on your second or third Macintosh, this site probably will not be of much benefit to you. On the other hand, you never know what you may stumble upon."

The site will be updated with a new tutorial each day, and users are encouraged to ask questions and leave comments.

Wow with all the websites in the world I am truly shocked that this is the first basic Macintosh help Website.

This is not a new idea!! There are other help websites for Macs that have been around a long time. Techsurvivors (www.techsurvivors.net) has been up since 2000! We started the site with the idea that we are a group of Mac users whose expertise ranges from extremely high to just begun using a Mac. We cover a very wide range of questions and problems as well as comments on an individuals experience with Mac and third party hardware and software.

It turns out, that we had to separate technical from other as the site is a focal point for a community! Try it you might like it.

There's also a good site for beginners in the Mac World at: http://www.myfirstmac.com/

I've been using it myselft since it began and we can post comments and questions at its forums, write some personal stories, articles, etc.

Very good site, and i'm glad to see new initiatives like OS X Help coming around. Congrats to all of you!

Mac Users Group!!

These guys (men and women) have been helping Mac users when even Apple couldn't help itself.

I have been involved in MUGS since 1997 and we help every Mac user, and post tutorials online ,and in print (national newspapers, etc).

So good on Scott and Caroline but please do not oversell the concept.
