Mossberg Claims iPhone 3G in 60 Days

Mossberg Claims iPhone 3G in 60 Days

by , 1:50 PM EDT, April 7th, 2008

The Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg recently spoke at the Beet.TV conference in Washington D.C. about the issues associated with connecting the Internet to an HDTV and the terrible state of broadband in the U.S. Mr. Mossberg had grave doubts about the future of IPTV over broadband. Along the way, he also claimed, in a throw away line, that Apple will introduce an iPhone 3G in the next 60 days.

The comment came at 6m55s into the video.

Mr. Mossberg lamented not only the state of broadband in the U.S., where 768 Kbps DSL doesn't even qualify a broadband in, for example, Finland, but also 3G wireless in the U.S. which he characterized "very slow and quite capacity limited."

While only a short, notable reference was made to the Apple iPhone 3G, the overall presentation was both illuminating and a severe indictment of the U.S. communications infrastructure. The entire seven minute video is highly recommended.
