JoeSoft Releases Hear, Mac OS X Sound Enhancement

JoeSoft Releases Hear, Mac OS X Sound Enhancement

by , 5:00 PM EDT, April 8th, 2008

On Tuesday, JoeSoft announced the immediate availability of Hear, a sound enhancement program for Mac OS X. Hear's features include 3D sound, an equalizer, speaker correction and more.

Hear greatly improves audio quality of movies and music throughout all Mac OS X applications. Hear offers a wide array of settings that are quick and easy to find, which will greatly improve the sound quality of music, movies and games.

"Hear is a great new program that makes everything sound better on your Mac. All your music will be vastly improved, your movies will surround you with rich sound and your games will now blow you away," said Greg Brewer, CEO of Prosoft. "Once you've listened to your music or movies with Hear, you will never want to be without Hear.”

Hear's features include 3D sound, an equalizer, speaker correction, center channel control, a virtual subwoofer, ambience and fidelity control.

Hear is a universal application, requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later and is priced at US$49.95.

Anybody else a bit skeptical about this? Come on, "virtual subwoofer"?

Sceptical? No. Curious? Yes.

Tonight when I get home I'm probably going to download and demo it. If it doesn't work, I'll have a good old mocking laugh and trash it. If not, I'll probably still trash it, say a few words of admiration and possibly post a message here about what I thought about it. Then trash it.

Unless it really is top notch, in which case, they'll get their $US50.

Subject: Worth a listen

I was skeptical when WOW! was available to give SRS to the Mac. I listened to the demo for a few hours one evening and couldn't believe the improvement it made to music I've listen to for years. I heard instruments in the background I had never heard before, depth, clarity. I bought it ($20) that first night. If Hear does the same or better, you will be impressed.
