Apple Launches Back to School Deal with Free iPod Touch
by , 8:00 AM EDT, June 3rd, 2008
Apple introduced its latest back to school promotion on Tuesday with the offer of a free iPod touch or iPod nano to students and teachers that buy a new iMac or Apple laptop. The free iPod comes in the form of a rebate worth up to US$299, which is the price of an 8GB iPod touch, and is available with Macs purchased at Apple online or retail stores.
Apple is also offering up to $100 back on qualifying printers when purchased along with a new Mac. The standard educational discounts still apply when purchasing one of the qualifying Macs.
The free iPod offer applies only if the iPod is purchased at the same time as the Mac, and the offer runs from June 3 through September 15. Rebate claims can be submitted through October 15, 2008.

You may be posting on the wrong forum; you should ask Apple.
For what it's worth, you may go to Apple store, arrange for a return/exchange, so that your purchase date is 3 June or later. The way Apple normally works (bending over backwards for customers), they won't even take your computer back; they'll can just refund your money and charge you again for the same thing, re-issuing you a new receipt with a different date. If you are college student/teacher with valid student ID, you'll get that voucher for the iPod.

Last year I was able to get the double rebate (iPod Nano and printer) when I bought a MacBook Pro, but you should obviously double check with Apple to see if that's still the case. You could fill in the forms online last year (and I think you still can this year). I first filled in the rebate form for the one indicating I was sending in the UPC symbol for the Mac on it. On the second form, I listed the status/tracking number for the first rebate where they asked for it since that one wouldn't include the UPC symbol.
