Apple Promotes Two Executives and Updates Company Profiles

by , 2:20 PM EDT, June 6th, 2008

Apple's Scott Forstall has been promoted to Senior Vice President of iPhone Software and Bob Mansfield has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Mac Hardware Engineering. Apple's Executive Profile page has been updated.

Scott Forstall

"Reporting directly to the CEO, Forstall leads the team responsible for delivering the software at the heart of Apple's revolutionary iPhone including the user interface, applications, frameworks and the operating system," according to the bio.

Apple said that Mr. Forstall joined Apple in 1997 and is one of the original architects of Mac OS X and has been responsible for several releases of Mac OS X, notably the recent releae of Leopard. Mr. Forstall is one of the engineers that Mr. Jobs hired at NeXT and brought to Apple.

Bob Mansfield

"Bob Mansfield is senior vice president of Macintosh Hardware Engineering reporting to Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer. Mansfield joined Apple in 1999 and oversees the team that has delivered dozens of breakthrough Mac products including the MacBook Air and the all-in-one iMac line," Apple's bio said.

Before joining Apple in 1999, Mr. Mansfield was a senior director at SGI and responsible for the development of various microprocessor designs.

The promotions and the filling out of the executive team at Apple are indications not only of the success and contributions of these individuals but also of Apple's expanding product line, growth, and need for additional senior management to guide the company into the future,
