Australia's Sydney Apple Store to Open June 19

Australia's Sydney Apple Store to Open June 19

by , 11:15 AM EDT, June 9th, 2008

Apple's first retail store in Australia is set to open on June 19 in Sydney. The doors to the three-story store will open to the public at 5PM local time, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Apple's first store in Australia likely won't be its last, either. The company's retail boss, Ron Johnson, commented "We're not coming to open a single store in Sydney."

He did not say which cities the Cupertino company plans to open stores in, or when they plan on adding more Australian stores. It appears, however, that stores are already under construction north of Sydney in Chatswood, and in Melbourne's Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Apple will be giving away T-shirts to the first 2,500 visitors.

The Sydney Apple Store is located at the intersection of King and George Streets.
