Apple Releases MobileMe 1.1 for Leopard

Apple Releases MobileMe 1.1 for Leopard

by , 11:35 PM EDT, July 12th, 2008

Apple quietly released MobileMe 1.1 for Mac OS X 10.5.4 Saturday evening. The Preference Pane update improves MobileMe and Leopard compatibility, but strays from Apple's standard update process and does not use the Software Update application.

Goodbye .Mac, hello MobileMe 1.1

To install MobileMe 1.1, which changes the .Mac Preference Pane to the MobileMe Preference Pane, launch System Preferences and select .Mac. Mac OS X should automatically update the Preference Pane.

MobileMe 1.1 is a free update and requires Mac OS X 10.5.4.

Subject: What about MobileMe for Tiger users?

How nice that Apple has updated MobileMe for Leopard. But what about Tiger?

What we really need is a MobileMe service that actually does what Apple says it does. At the moment, it is pretty useless.

Aside from the initial glitches in availability, the MobileMe service seems to have improved the .Mac service substantially, and is much better looking on the web interface.

mjkphoto: what doesn't it do that Apple claims it will? The only missing item I can see is the ability to share any file (rather than moving it to the Public folder).

After selecting .mac in System Preferences then it use Software Update. It prompted me to quit Mail before continuing with installing the update.

I am too tired to mess around with it tonight, I am for the arms of Morpheus, chat with you all in the morning.

After registering for a trial version of MobileMe, I used Software Update to update the System Preferences from .Mac to MobileMe. It worked the same as all other software updates.

After reading the headline, I checked Software Update, and it definitely shows a 'Mac OS X Update For MobileMe', now.

Subject: Mobile Me Mail Syncing - Other POP Mail Accounts

I also have all working fine now, took a few tries and had to resent syncing etc. but all sync fine now except the address book which still has a couple of minor differences.

Has anyone tried adding another Pop mail account to Mobile Me?
Will in sync the folders and all from the mac to the Me web window or only receive new incoming mail?

Would appreciate a comment from anyone that knows.

Subject: iSynk in Tiger abandond

Apple changing .Mac.com to Mobile Me is giving me 20 GBs of iDisk space instead of 10 GBs. All of my .mac created web pages are the same and everything still works OK accept iSynk, in Tiger, witch is a big let down for me.

After tweaking with the .Mac Sync System Preferences Panel, I was able to get Synching, with Mobile Me, to work with Tiger. I tried to run a "Synchronize with .Mac" manually with just "Bookmarks" and "Calendars" selected. The Synchronize cycle started and then completed with these two selections and then Synching worked fine with all the items selected after that -- even with Automatic Synchronize.

So Apple has allowed Tiger to be compatible with Mobile Me Synchronization.
