Inside the Classic Mac, a Photo Gallery
by , 6:10 AM EDT, July 15th, 2008
If you've ever been curious about what made the Classic Macintosh tick, CNet Asia has just what you need, a 13-page photo gallery made while breaking the Classic Mac down to its basic bits (pun not intended).
What makes the photos even more interesting to (geeks like) us is that each photo is labeled (see the example below), with a sentence or two offering details about what exactly you are seeing. We recommend checking it out if this sort of retro-gearhead tour floats your boat.

A photo from CNet Asia's breakdown of a Classic Mac
Observer Comments
Ahhh memories.
My first Mac was a Classic. I had the case off more than a few times; add RAM, Upgrade Drive, etc. Somewhere around here I even still have the long Torx driver to get at the screws under the handle that you needed to pull in order to get the case off.
The Classic was actually quite a bit different inside from the SE or original Mac. The memory on the daughter card was a nice addition. Earlier versions you had to pull the motherboard to add RAM. Of course doing anything inside the case with that charged CRT just above was nerve wracking. I made a discharge tool, but it still was very spooky to work inside the case.
This is actually from techrepublic.com(.com), and it was linked on CNET's regular news.com.com as well as CNET asia.
Unfortunately Mark Kaelin has little understanding of the machines he rips apart - it's so disappointing!!
Particularly egregious was his breakdown of the iBook, where he complained that it wasn't innovative.... forgetting a little thing called AirPort.
These teardowns would be a lot more interesting if he did some research beforehand - heck, even some google searching and wikipedia reading would help!

Sure the battery on iPhone 3G is not that great, but what can we do? We want small size phones, powerful features and lengthy battery life.
Just get a backup battery. I got mine from iPhoneck brands. Their new 3G backup battery is probably one of the better looking products in the market. Their website is www.iphoneck.com
