Apple: Competitors Can't Match Us

by , 6:55 PM EDT, July 21st, 2008

Apple reported its best June quarter ever on Monday, and the company credited that success to products that it claims the competition just can't match. Those products led to more than 50 percent year over year growth in several markets including China, Russia, Latin America, France, and Germany.

"We're delivering state of the art products at price points that our competitors can't match, which has resulted in market share gains in each of our products," said Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer.

While growth in the United States has been strong, significant growth in other parts of the world could lead to a big jump in quarterly and annual revenues. That growth could also help Apple gain more PC market share with its Mac computer line up.

Growth outside the U.S. could help protect against potential losses should sales in the states take a substantial dip at some point. For now, however, that isn't likely to happen thanks to strong sales and momentum for Apple's products around the world.

"Overall, it was a very, very strong quarter in every major geographic region," Mr. Cook concluded.
