Apple Tops PCs in Customer Satisfaction Study
by , 9:40 AM EDT, August 19th, 2008
Customer satisfaction with PC makers may be dropping, but Apple's ranking is on the rise. Apple's ranking is climbed about eight percent compared to last year to hit 85 on a scale of 100, according to TechSpot News.
The study conducted by the University of Michigan's American Customer Satisfaction Index showed that overall customer satisfaction with PC makers is on its second year of decline. Dell came in a full 10 points behind Apple with a ranking at 75 out of 100.
According to the study, customer satisfaction with the Mac, iPod and iPhone helped Apple's score, as did PC user dissatisfaction with Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system.
Despite Apple's high rating, which is currently an all-time high for the industry, the Cupertino-based company has been suffering from customer satisfaction problems thanks to issues with its MobileMe service and iPhone 3G signal reception. Apple has extended MobileMe subscriptions by 90 days, most recently with an additional 60 days announced on Monday.
Should Apple manage to get its MobileMe and iPhone 3G issues under control soon, it may be able to keeps its significant lead over other PC makers. If the problems drag out, however, Apple's customer satisfaction ranking may not fare as well next year.
