Google is adding a new wardrobe feature to its photo app to help you organize your clothing. The company will soon use artificial intelligence to scan your picture library and automatically identify the clothes you wear. It then places those items into a dedicated digital closet on your phone.
This setup gives you a clear view of your clothing inventory without needing to tag anything yourself.
The app lets you mix pieces and try outfits virtually
The new tool appears under the Collections tab and changes how you interact with your saved images. It sorts your clothing into basic groups like tops, bottoms, and jewelry. You can select different items and combine them to plan outfits for upcoming events or daily wear. After you create a look, you can save the combination to a digital moodboard or send it to your friends for feedback.
The app also includes a virtual try-on option. When you tap the preview button, the software shows a digital avatar wearing the clothes you selected. This helps you see how different patterns and styles match before you actually get dressed. You can test out multiple combinations in seconds, saving you from pulling apart your real closet.
The company plans to launch this update for Android devices during the summer of 2026. People with iPhones will receive the feature later in the year. It works a lot like the famous computer closet from the 1995 comedy movie Clueless, bringing that classic movie magic right to your mobile screen.
