by , 11:30 AM EDT, September 19th, 2008

Marketcircle announced Friday the release of Billings 3, the newest version of the company's time tracking and invoicing solution. the new version includes a new interface, 18 new templates, notification features, and more.

The company has developed what it calls a streamlined and polished interface for the new release, an interface that offers users quick access to the features and information most used. There are some 30 templates, including 18 new templates, for quickly generating invoices.

Billings 3 also includes instant overdue invoice notifications. The software offers users a red icon next to client names that have overdue invoices, with the icons leading directly to the specific invoice in question. Users can also consolidate invoices from multiple projects and send recurring invoices.

Other new features include new time tracking features and some 30 business reports, which includes 17 new reports.

Billings 3 is available immediately from Marketcircle and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger), 10.5.3 (Leopard) or higher. Billings 3 is priced at US$59, with a $35 upgrade from version 2.x available. Users who purchased version 2.x between August 1st and September 17th can upgrade for free.

If you utilize the Project Code functionality in Billings you might want to consider waiting to upgrade until 3.0.1. It appears that it is broken in version 3.0. I know this first hand. You can work around this and enter the actual project code directly in the Billings Preferences pane before creating your invoice but that is kind of a pain.
