PDFpen 4.0 Adds MS Word Import and OCR Capability

SmileOnMyMac has announced the immediate availability of PDFpen 4.0. The new version adds usability enhancements, Microsoft Word import, the ability to scan text documents into PDF documents and more.

PDFpen 4.0 features significant UI enhancements focused on increasing productivity, including a new document sidebar for viewing thumbnails, a simplified Properties window, and enhanced toolbar controls. Other new features in PDFpen 4.0 include printing of notes and comments, additional mark-up options, and file compatibility upgrades.

SmileOnMyMac said that PDFpenPro, which has all the features of PDFpen, has also been upgraded. PDFpenPro 4.0 users can now create and edit document Table of Contents, in addition to being able to create and edit cross-platform fillable PDF forms.

PDFpen and PDFpenPro require OS X Tiger or later. A 1.8 GHz Intel processor or faster is recommended for OCR. PDFpen is priced at US$49.95 and PDFpenPro is priced at $99.95. Upgrades for either to version 4 are $25.00.
