Apple's Web-based store went offline Tuesday morning ahead of the company's notebook spotlight special media event scheduled for 10:00AM pacific time. Apple is expected to introduce new MacBook and MacBook Pro models, and many are speculating the company will show off redesigned laptop bodies and even a sub US$900 model. If there is no $900 laptop, and it really is just a new 24" display, the stock price will tank.

Should it? No, but the expectations are TOC.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. Apple hasn't said anything but the rumor mill has come up with all sorts of ideas. Many of them completely off the deep end. Then when Apple doesn't deliver that $25 17" laptop with quad processors the people who spread all thos crazy rumors are disappointed and sell the stock. It's really quite silly.

I'm looking for a MacBook with better graphics than the old model. If they have that I'm going to be happy I waited. Anything else, especially if it is in alignment with the rumors is great but just gravy.

The rumors suggest glossy-only screens on the Macbook Pro, as well as loss of Firewire on the 'new' MacBook. If true, there will be a loss of sales for those reasons. If not true, then all will be good and FedEx will be busy.
