Apple Jabs Vista Again in New Ad
Apple Jabs Vista Again in New Ad

Apple released yet another Get a Mac commercial on Wednesday, this time taking another jab at Microsoft for spending money on marketing Windows Vista instead of fixing the operating system's issues. Like the other ads in the popular series, the new Bake Sale commercial features John Hodgman as PC and Justin Long as Mac. The ad is available at the Apple Web site in QuickTime format.

I thought it was hilarious, a good bit of fun, a great poke at microshaft. I would prefer Apple spend money on telling people why Mac OS X and Mac computers are ten times better than Vista or Windows , instead. But they prefer a style, message type ad. I feel that is a waste of advertising money. I prefer the direct message advert, convincing its better, than whatever. There are so many forgettable adverts, it makes me wonder how they got approved in the first place. However, I am happy to see any Apple ad, it keeps it in the mind set of people etc

next thing you know, apple will do a "mojave" commercial disguising themselves as a pc...actually wait, that would be a cool commerical.
"Wow I can't believe how fast this new windows os works"
"Surprise, its a mac!"
I love the idea. They could play up the angle of how much better the "new Windows" is than the old Windows. More secure, more stable, less DRM, etc. plus how it will run all their old software (Office etc.) Then at the end "There?s only one thing: this New Windows is from Apple" and show the OS-X logo.

QuoteThey could go the Pepsi Challenge route with an ad, but I seriously think making a reference to "being a version" of Windows would dilute Apple's brand. Especially since, as history goes, Windows has really always been a cheap knockoff of Apple's GUI. Not to mention that Apple could very likely be hit up with copyright infringement for referring to themselves as "Windows".geoduck wrote:

It's an interesting thought for Apple to take a hard sell approach, but I think there is also a very fine line they have to walk with legal issues... they seem to be doing really well taking a swipe at Windows with the "people as a computer" campaign.
